MUSICA MAXIMA

David Newman & Zephyr,
appearing at First Congregational Church on April 3, 3 pm

Join us Sunday, April 3 at 3 pm as celebrated pianist David Newman and his wind ensemble, Zephyr, perform two large festive sextets for piano and wind quintet! With David, a favorite in our community, who is listed in Who’s Who Among American Keyboard Artists, are prominent wind players whom you have often heard with the Beloit Janesville or the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestras and in many chamber concerts: Kristen Davis, flute, Sue Newman, oboe, Christine Eckel, clarinet, Sarah Gillespie, horn, and Andrew Briddell, bassoon.

ABOUT MAX

Max H. Yount received his undergraduate degree in music at Oberlin College, the Conservatory of Music, in Oberlin, Ohio. Next, he earned his Master and Doctorate degrees in Music at the University of Rochester, Eastman School of Music. In 1963, Max came to Beloit College to join the faculty of the Department of Music. He now is retired from the college. However, for this church, he continues playing the Rieger-Kloss Organ as pictured here, along with many other musical offerings. His responsibilities include leading the choir, playing the organ, the piano, or the harpiscord and planning the MUSICA MAXIMA Series.
